Highlights of Achievements of the School

  • The School of Community Science & Technology, BESU, Shibpur inaugurated 2-Years M.Sc. Course in Food Processing & Nutrition Science by a modest ceremony on August 27, 2007 held at the University Institute Hall where distinguished academicians delivered lectures on the necessity and the future prospect of this course. Sri Mohanto Chatterjee, the Hon’ble Minister-in-charge, Food Processing Industries & Horticulture, was present at the ceremony and inaugurated the course formally.
  • The School of Community Science & Technology, BESU, Shibpur has been started a mega project with SERAIKELA STEEL PLANT PROJECT, TATA STEEL on COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY AS A PART OF  REHABILITATION PROGRAMME.
  • In an attempt to equip Research Scholars, Students, Faculty members and Industry personnel in understanding and addressing about  the major areas on recent developments in renewable energy technologies with a strong plea for creating awareness among the masses  so that they can integrate their academic and professional pursuits with the question  of renewable energy, a one day seminar on “Frontier Areas of Renewable Energy Options: A Rural Development Perspective”  was organised by School of Community Science & Technology, SOCSAT and Rural Development Forum, IEI on July 12, 2007,  at BESU, Shibpur.
  • A national level Short Term Course on “Environmental Science for Engineers & Scientists” was organised by School of Community Science & Technology, SOCSAT during June 1 – 5, 2004, supported by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), at B. E. College (DU).
