KRITI 2017 was organized by The Society for Creative Arts and Green Environment (SCAGE), IIEST Shibpur on 1st and 2nd of April 2017. The society also celebrated its second year with this grand event, which was completely based on learning and eventually immense potential inputs from the students.
The mentor of the society Prof. Aditya Bandyopadhyay & Honorable Guest Mr. Prahlad Acharya inaugurated the event. The organizing committee students also performed at the inauguration. This was followed by a mesmerizing performance by Shadow Artist Prahlad Acharya, who has also been a semifinalist in the India’s Got Talent & and done shows on shadow art and magic all over the world.
The second half of the day was completely based on workshops where participating students were asked to create their own stories, learn how to perform shadow art on it & eventually within a small period performing them on the big stage. Mr. Prahlad Acharya was impressed by the efforts & learning efficiency of every student.
The second day had three competitions. About 150+ students participated in the competitions. It started with Paiting where the Theme was “Paint Your Dreams”. This event was followed by Crafting where students were asked to “Frame a Recognition” in terms of a certificate size that was provided. Both the events took place in the Students’ Amenity Center was eventually very tough for the Jury to come up with just 2 winners.
The next event was the most interesting one of all – JUNKYARD. This was held at the Netaji Bhavan. Students were given a theme “to ideate something interesting & efficient, out of the Junk which would be required for the University Campus”. Being the first attempt, students gave their best and zeroed down to some tremendous solutions for the different problems and issues within the campus. The Director of the Institute Prof. Ajoy K Ray, also visited the event ground and was surprised to find such outstanding ideas. He also requested the organizing committee and the students associated with the event to modify refine the solutions so that it could be implemented soon.
Eventually, KRITI 2017 ended by the prize distribution ceremony at the Institute Hall followed by a small cultural program. Just reaching two years of the club on 2nd March 2017, this was indeed a grand success for the initiative with which the Society was started with, by a a group students and naming the endeavor as The Society for Creative Arts and Green Environment (SCAGE), IIEST Shibpur.
