Research

In line with the institutional goal, high quality research in interdisciplinary areas is the major focus of the departments. A number of research projects have recently been completed are under implementation now. Some of the areas where faculty members are actively pursuing research projects are- Remote Sensing applications in earth and atmospheric sciences, Safety and Ergonomy in mining industry, Coal bed methane and carbon sequestration in coal beds, Shale gas, Mineral Economics, Mine Environment, beneficiation of low-grade iron ores etc.

 Faculty members mentor a number of research scholars in these projects. Additionally, students in the department also get opportunity to work in the research laboratories. Some important research projects taken up recently in the department:
